The Ugandan government, led by the Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with the SDG Secretariat Uganda, and other partners, hosted the 3rd Conference on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) this week at the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo.

The two-day event, themed "Strengthening SDG Localization and Service Delivery Mechanisms for National Development," brought together stakeholders from central, local governments, CSOs and private sector to review Uganda's progress on the 2030 SDGs and discuss ways to make them more locally relevant.

In her opening remarks, Prime Minister Hon. Robinah Nabbanja acknowledged the significant strides Uganda has made toward achieving the SDGs, highlighting the notable achievements of various ministries and agencies. She stressed the importance of localizing the global goals to ensure that no one is left behind in the country's development.

The Honorable Raphael Magyezi, Minister for Local Government, emphasized the implementation of the Parish Development Model, which aligns with Uganda's National Development Plan III and the ruling party's manifesto. He reiterated the government's economic vision to ensure that every household can afford the basic necessities of life.

The conference also featured the launch and discussion of the Local Government Management of Service Delivery Report 2023. This document provides a comprehensive assessment of the country's progress and challenges in localizing the SDGs.

The third SDG conference is a crucial platform for driving the localization of the global goals and ensuring that they are accessible to every individual.
