The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in Uganda, along with the Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, has expressed their commendation for the Rural Electrification Program's impressive progress in Gomba District. During their oversight visit, committee members witnessed firsthand the program's positive impact on rural communities.

They observed that electricity has successfully reached even the most remote areas, providing light and power to previously underserved populations. The advancements made in Gomba District, specifically in Kanoni-Mpenja, Kanoni-Mamba landing site, and Kanoni-Mwese, demonstrate that the Rural Electrification Program is effectively working towards its objectives. This progress ensures that the program's benefits extend to all areas across the country, particularly in supporting development, notably in the mining sector.

The committee will continue its visit by evaluating mining sites in Mitooma, Ntungamo, and Mubende. The Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Natural Resources aims to conduct oversight on rural electrification projects and various mineral sites in multiple districts, including Gomba, Masaka, Mbarara, Mitooma, Ntungamo, Bushenyi, Kabarole, and Mubende, from May 15th to May 18th, 2024.
